What does Kappa mean on Twitch?
The Kappa emote is a black and white face cut-out of a former Twitch Employee. The emote, which features a smug-looking face, is often used to mock the Twitch streamer.
On top of being a “troll” emote, using the Kappa emote may reveal a user has the golden Kappa. Due to its rarity, once a chatter begins using the Kappa emoji, it often gets spammed by others to check if they too have the golden Kappa.

Origin of Kappa on Twitch
The Kappa emoticon is a cut-out of former Twitch employee Josh Deseno, who created this emote to Twitch back in 2011 while working as a programmer on the Twitch chat. He did not, however, originate this practice; at the time, Twitch was known as Justin TV, and numerous workers had posted their faces as emotes.
These other Justin TV workers may still be spotted as emotes on Twitch today, although not as as frequently as the Kappa emote, which has become a meme and a large part of the Twitch community.
Not only that, but the Kappa emote is still one of the most popular emotes on Twitch!
According to Josh, Kappa got famous because the word ‘Kappa' is entertaining to speak.
Josh named his emoticon Kappa after a character from Japanese legend.

If you suspect a streamer is being sarcastic, ironic, or trolling, you should utilize the Kappa emote.
How to get Golden Kappa
The Golden Kappa is a Twitch easter egg in which someone may be in possession of a Golden Kappa emote at any time. You can only find out whether you're the selected one by typing Kappa into the Twitch chat.
Simply said, you must be fortunate! But, hey, you have to acquire it at some time if you Kappa in every stream, right?

No, Kappa is an emote native to Twitch and does not require an external extension to show up.
